When it comes to working ON your business and not IN your business, it all comes down to mindset and time management.

Creating or strengthening your current thought process when it comes to working on your actual business, is something that many of us know we need to improve. We easily get sucked into tasks that we know would be more productive if outsourced and feel as if we are up against a constant battle with time management. We continue on this pathway until we take action.

In our previous post, we looked at 5 ways to find time to work on your business and not just in it.  Now, we want to look at a few easy steps that you can action now and start seeing results.

  1. Right now, at this moment, it is about signing up to the fact that you need to get your mindset in order. If you are not willing to change your thinking and the way that you approach your business, then you will never get over the first hurdle.  If you adopt the correct mindset, then you will ultimately move towards success.
  2. You need to allocate time to plan and this time needs to be used constructively. You basically need to plan in time, to plan! Spend time on your business marketing and sales. If you don’t invest a few hours a week on this part of your business then it’s not going to move forward.
  3. It may seem overwhelming, but if you break down what you want to achieve from your business into small steps to reach your goals then you will be able to focus on the task in hand. Focus allows you to really get into the nitty gritty of a task until it is completed. Set yourself objectives (realistic ones) that you want to achieve in the time you have allocated and focus, focus, focus!
  4. All human beings only have one pair of hands. You may be able to juggle a few balls in the air or spin a few plates, but it’s not a great feeling when you feel like you have too much to do and not enough of yourself to do it. The best thing that you can do, and an action highly recommended by many small businesses who have taken the next step into growth is to outsource or employ others to help you. We here at Virtual Hand believe you need a team because one is not enough.
  5. Invest in training and development. Improving your skill set will improve your business because you will have additional services that you can offer to your clients or apply them to the actual running and back office side of your entrepreneurial journey. Learn how to effectively market yourself or how to use a piece of software that will make your life easier.

We believe that if you take action on just one of these steps you will start to notice the difference. We highly recommend that you start with step 1, because this will ensure that the rest follow suit.
